Laser Tattoo Removal Aftercare

After your laser tattoo removal session in Bradford, your skin will need time and care to heal. Proper aftercare reduces the risk of irritation and supports the fading process.

Right After Your Appointment

  • The area may feel warm and look red or slightly raised — this is normal.

  • I’ll apply aloe vera gel and a protective dressing before you leave.

  • Keep the dressing on for the time advised (usually up to 24 hours).

Healing Process

  • Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free moisturiser or ointment (I’ll recommend a suitable brand).

  • Avoid soaking the tattoo — no swimming, baths, hot tubs, or long showers.

  • Don’t pick or scratch at scabs or peeling skin.

  • Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight and avoid sunbeds completely.

Healing Tips

  • Keep the treated area out of the sun — UV exposure can cause pigment loss or damage. Always cover the area or use SPF once healing allows.

  • Stay hydrated and give your body time between sessions (usually 6–10 weeks). Healing well is key to the best results.

  • 💛 Consistent aftercare ensures your laser tattoo removal in Bradford is as safe, comfortable, and effective as possible.

✨ Laser Tattoo Removal Aftercare

To get the best results and keep your skin happy and healthy, please follow the guidance below. Healing varies from person to person, but good aftercare can help reduce the risk of side effects and may even mean fewer sessions overall. Win-win!

💥 Immediately After Treatment

  • The area may feel warm, look red, or slightly swollen — this is totally normal.

  • You might also notice slight blistering, crusting or scabbing in the days following treatment — again, normal!

  • I’ll apply aloe vera gel and a sterile dressing before you leave. Keep this dressing on for at least a few hours (or overnight if possible).

❄️ First 24–48 Hours

  • Apply cool compresses to reduce swelling and soothe the area (avoid ice directly on the skin).

  • Do not pick or scratch at any scabs or blisters – let them heal naturally.

  • If needed, continue applying aloe vera gel or a fragrance-free healing ointment.

  • Avoid soaking the area (no baths, swimming, hot tubs, etc).

  • No exercise, sweating or saunas for 48 hours – sorry gym bunnies!

💧 Ongoing Aftercare (First 7 Days)

  • Keep the area clean and dry.

  • Apply aloe vera or a gentle moisturiser 2–3 times a day to soothe and hydrate.

  • Avoid tight clothing or anything that might rub on the treated area.

  • No sun exposure or tanning – this is so important!

☀️ Tanning & Sun Exposure

  • No tanning (natural or sunbeds) on or around the tattoo area for at least 2 weeks before AND 4 weeks after each session.

  • Sun exposure can cause pigmentation changes and increase your risk of complications.

  • Use SPF 30+ daily once healed, especially if the area is exposed to sunlight.

😣 Is It Painful After?

  • You may experience tenderness or a slight burning sensation for a couple of days.

  • Cool compresses and aloe vera can help a lot.

  • If needed, you can take paracetamol, but avoid ibuprofen or aspirin as they can increase bruising.

📆 When Can I Come Back?

  • You’ll need to wait at least 6 weeks between laser sessions.

  • If you had a patch test or it’s your first session, we’ll wait 48 hours to check for any reaction before we go ahead with treatment.

🧬 How Does It Work?

  • Your body’s lymphatic system works to break down and flush out the shattered ink particles.

  • Staying hydrated, avoiding alcohol, not smoking, and eating well can all help speed this up!

🚩 What to Watch Out For

  • Redness, swelling, and light bruising are normal.

  • If you notice signs of infection (like pus, excessive heat or increasing pain), please contact me or a healthcare professional.
